This is an old (40 years) camera tripod with brass metal legs that fold into one another in 3 sections each. Compared to modern plastik tripods it looks a little steampunk. The legs have places where a section of it snaps into place when pulling it out and makes this ticking sound. If you pull a leg out to full extend it does this neat "snickit-tick" sound.
Anyway, even though i never handled a gun myself, from what i "learned" from movies this sound might perhaps be usable as a loading or cleaning a gun sound.
Or for any fine metal gadgets like looking glasses or compasses, or alethiometers ;) lol!
